What's the difference between Career Fair and Job Fair? Good question! University/College Career Fair Career Fair happens in September. It is an opportunity for organizations to share potential career options with students and alumni, as well as meet their recruiting needs in the fall. Most of the employers in attendance recruit for permanent, co-op, internships or contract positions either immediate or after graduation. For students, Career Fair is an excellent occasion to directly access these career opportunities. They are given the chance to network face-to-face with recruiting staff and various industry representatives to learn about career options that may be available to them upon graduation. University/College Job Fair Job Fair on the other hand takes place in February, and is for employers who have a need to fill positions. That is, employers must have job opportunities available to students at the time of the Job Fair or within six months following the Job Fair in order to participate. Typical positions include summer, permanent, contract and part-time. Students and alumni attending Job Fair are looking for immediate work. |
